About the Council

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is the UN's primary body for maintaining international peace and security. It has 15 members, including 5 permanent ones (China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US) with veto power. The UNSC can authorize sanctions, peacekeeping missions, and military action.
